In the midst of Somalia’s post-civil war resurgence, the civil society sector was experiencing remarkable growth. However, the pressing issues of service delivery, equitable access, and meaningful civic participation in decision-making processes continue to raise serious concerns, not only among the local communities but also within the discerning eyes of external change advocates. The visionaries behind Talobeeg Foundation were deeply moved by the imperative to cultivate homegrown agents of change, individuals armed with a compelling vision, unwavering dedication, and an unshakable commitment to construct an alternative society.
This envisioned society is one that thrives in internal peace and harmony and fosters amicable relations with its neighbors. It is a society firmly rooted in the principles of the rule of law and the protection of human rights. Within this utopian framework, social development programs extend their benefits equitably across all strata of society, with a special focus on women, children, youth, and the most vulnerable groups. The ultimate goal is to narrow socioeconomic and political disparities significantly. This envisioned society places a premium on active public engagement in the governance system, champions environmental conservation, guarantees universal access to quality education, primary healthcare services, and upholds the sanctity of the rule of law for all its members.
The foundation works in Somalia where the pivotal role of government had been absent since 1991, where social services are at their weakest, education, and health scores the lowest and extremism, child soldering, youth unemployment and illegal immigration are at their peak while efforts of local educated youth is highly required. Talobeeg assumes the responsibility to take the lead in undertaking relief and sustainable development activities and to link Somali community particularly youth, children, and Women to the rest of world through engagement with Somalia diaspora organizations, international partners, and government. TF works with Somalia Diaspora Network in Europe, Galmudug Kaltur Centre and African European Development Agency (ANDEVA). in Sweden, ASDA ry and Puntland Community ry in Finland and PDF in Denmark.
