Fostering quality education and technical vocational training (TVET): Talobeeg Foundation recognizes the pivotal role of education and technical vocational training in empowering individuals and communities. Through various projects, TF has actively contributed to improving access to quality education and TVET opportunities, particularly for youth in Somalia.

Current Projects:

  • KAABE Youth Empowerment Project (2023-2026): This initiative, funded by the Finnish MFA through the Finnish Somali Network, aimed to empower youth through education, vocational training, civic engagement, sports, and recreational activities. TF implemented this project, investing €200,000 to enhance educational and vocational opportunities for Somali youth.

Past Projects:

  • Entrepreneur-YOUTH – Inclusive Social Youth Entrepreneurship for Better Social Change (2017-2019): TF, as a beneficiary, actively participated in this project funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus Plus Programme. With a budget of €100,000, the project focused on fostering entrepreneurship among youth, aligning with TF’s objective of promoting quality education and civic engagement.
  • Barbaar-kaab Youth Advocacy Project (2022-2023): TF, as a beneficiary, engaged in this project funded by the Global Campaign for Education. With an investment of $10,000, TF contributed to advocating for youth rights and enhancing educational opportunities for Somali youth.
  • Workshop on Combating Youth Extremism and Radicalization among African Diaspora Youth in Europe (2019): TF organized and implemented this workshop, funded by the EU through the Puntland European Diaspora Network (PEDAN), with a budget of $65,000. This initiative addressed critical issues related to youth empowerment and civic engagement while fostering dialogue on peacebuilding and democratization.
  • Schools as a Zone of Peace (SZOP) Project (2014-2016): TF implemented this project in collaboration with UNICEF, investing $149,764 to promote peace and education in conflict-affected areas. By creating safe learning environments, TF aimed to empower youth through education and civic engagement.
  • Support and Consolidation and Expansion of Child-to-Child clubs in Puntland schools (2009-2012) and Child to child Approach Project (2013-2014): These initiatives, implemented by TF with funding from UNICEF, focused on promoting peer education, youth empowerment, and civic engagement. With investments totaling $325,583, TF facilitated educational and developmental opportunities for Somali youth.
  • Consultative Workshop for Development of a National Mediation Strategy for Somalia (2023): TF implemented this project with a budget of $50,000, contributing to inclusive governance, peacebuilding, and democratization efforts in Somalia.
  • Emergency Food Distribution for Conflict-Affected Community in Las’anod Districts (2023): TF, as an implementer, allocated $18,000 to provide essential food assistance to communities affected by conflict, aligning with TF’s commitment to addressing humanitarian needs while fostering sustainable development.

By facilitating dialogue and fostering community engagement, TF contributed to peacebuilding and stabilization efforts in Taleh District, promoting inclusive governance structures and conflict resolution mechanisms.
  • Consultative Workshop for Development of a National Mediation Strategy for Somalia (2023): TF organized and implemented this workshop, funded by IGAD, with a budget of $50,000. Through its projects, TF works to build consensus, promote dialogue, and foster civic engagement to advance democratic principles and practices.

Through its projects, TF focuses on raising awareness, providing essential healthcare services, and advocating for policies that promote health and prevent diseases.

  • Khat Awareness and Youth Empowerment Project (2019-2024): TF is implementing this project, funded by the Finnish MFA, with a budget of $120,000. By raising awareness about the health risks associated with khat consumption and promoting alternative livelihoods for youth, TF contributes to addressing health challenges and empowering communities.
  • GAVI/HSS Communication Program (2022-2024): TF is implementing this program, funded by UNICEF, with a budget of €32,702. Through communication initiatives, TF aims to raise awareness about immunization and other health interventions, contributing to improved health outcomes and disease prevention.
  • Support child protection of Bari region (2022-2024): TF is implementing this project, funded by UNICEF, with a budget of €37,280. By providing child protection services, TF aims to address health challenges and protect vulnerable children in the Bari region.
Advocating for HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention: TF is committed to advocating for HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention as part of its broader efforts to promote health and well-being within communities. Through targeted advocacy campaigns, community outreach, and partnerships with health organizations, TF seeks to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS.

  • Training of Community Education Committees (CEC) of Puntland Schools (2013-2014): TF implemented this training program, funded by the Ministry of Education, with a budget of $784,374. By conducting research on education issues and building the capacity of community education committees, TF contributed to improving education quality and access in Puntland.
  • Baseline Study for Educare Project in Baidoa District (2022): TF conducted this baseline study, commissioned by SOS Children’s Villages, with a budget of $43,000.
